A Tale Of A Cupcake

Isn’t he just the cutest?

This is your new friend, Preston! He’s the focus of our book, “Jump Little Cake, Jump!” He’s now on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/JumpLittleCake and on Twitter at twitter.com/jumplittlecake. We hope you’ll join the party!

Stories start in the heart

We believe everyone has a story in their heart that needs to be told.

Every time we tell someone about our book, they say, “Hey, why don’t you write a book about …”

Sometimes it seems the world doesn’t have time to read. But I’ve never met a toddler who didn’t want to curl up on someone’s lap and be read a story. Do children ever say, “I’m just to busy for a story tonight, Dad.”? I haven’t seen it. But I have seen it the other way around.

Stories are important to everyone. It’s how we learn morals and lessons. Remember “The Ugly Ducking” who became a swan? The book tells us it’s OK to be different, because some day—perhaps around college—your differences will make you stand out from the crowd and it will finally be a good thing.

And then there’s the “Three Little Pigs” that reminds everyone of the age-old idea of don’t build your house on sand. If you construct a strong house of bricks instead of straw and put it on a good foundation, you won’t have to worry about the wind (from a wolf) blowing it away.

Those are just a few examples of how stories teach us lessons and I’m sure you can think of many, many more. We hope you’ll stick around, because we want to continue sharing stories with you and hearing your stories as well. We’ve even considered working with others to help them get their story ideas off the ground. Let us know if you have a story idea to share and what you would need to get it going.

Join the party!

“Jump Little Cake, Jump” is a story of fun and adventure. For those—young and old alike—who desire to come along with us, we say the more the merrier! While we could describe our books as children’s books, that would be like saying “The Muppets” or “Shrek” were children’s films. In our minds, they are so much more! The vision for a cupcake journey culminated one morning when Lindsay and her boyfriend were having brunch with Antonio and Tiffany. As usual, the discussion turned toward creative projects and Lindsay said, “Well, I’ve had a story I’ve wanted to tell for a while … I guess it’s not so much a story yet, but I have some sketches and an idea of this little cupcake …” Antonio and Tiffany instantly fell in love with the idea—and the little cupcake! He didn’t have a name yet, but in their minds, he was already coming to life: A cupcake on a journey. The next week, the group met again for brunch to brainstorm. Where was the cupcake going? How would he get there? What lessons would he learn along the way? These are all questions not only did we have to ask about our characters, but also have to stop on occasion to ask ourselves. That day was a day when all three of us had to admit, while we each have different occupations and hobbies, we all want to be a part of a journey—sharing stories with others and bringing people together who enjoy the same things—cupcakes, adventure, parties and fun. We hope you’ll join us, by following our blog, connecting with us via Twitter and coming to the launch parties we have planned along the way. This isn’t just a book about a cupcake. This is our way to connect with others, who are young and young at heart.
